On November 28th, leaders of Shanghai municipal departments, Shanghai International Automobile City, major OEMs, Tier1 suppliers, technology companies, media representatives and universities gathered in the Automobile Innovation Port to witness the release of the new automobile technology and model "Star Project" and the successful public road test of the first "Smart parking service" project in China, which was provided by Professor Du Yuchuan from the School of Transportation Engineering of our school.

"Smart parking service" is a typical low-speed unmanned Application scenario within a limited range. You can imagine such a picture: when you drive to your destination and press the parking instruction on the mobile app, the vehicle can automatically pass through the ground road from the get-off area, drive into the underground parking lot, and find the free parking space allocated by the system to park; When the owner needs to pick up the car, he will issue an instruction from the App again and pay the parking fee, and the vehicle will automatically return to the boarding area.

The team of Professor Du Yuchuan from the School of Transportation Engineering of our school and six teams including Chery New Energy, Horizon, Jilin University, Shanghai Yiqu and Yilian Technology jointly developed and demonstrated the intelligent parking service in the Automobile Innovation Port, mainly responsible for the construction of intelligent parking facilities and the research and development of unmanned parking control brain, making full use of parking sensor equipment to achieve high-precision positioning, visual capture and other functions, making the intelligent parking management platform the heart of intelligent parking, collecting multi-party data, and realizing parking space allocation and reservation, path planning, data transmission and recording and other functions.

"Smart parking service" project is a part of the big plan in the field of automobile innovation. Anting Shanghai International Automobile City, Automobile Innovation Port, Intelligent Networked Automobile Industry Technology Joint Innovation Center (UIC) and China Automobile Innovation Incubator Alliance (CMIA) jointly issued the "Star Plan" to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the automobile field, aiming at supporting the demonstration and application of new technologies and models in the automobile field through the integration of resources such as policy subsidies, R&D space, test sites and commercial landing platforms.
Among the 21 candidate projects in the first batch of shortlisted projects, the "Automatic parking service and Personalized Parking Service Solution Based on Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure" declared by Professor Du Yuchuan’s team aims to apply advanced manufacturing, information communication and artificial intelligence technologies to realize an automatic parking service system dominated by transportation infrastructure, including positioning perception, communication transmission, central decision-making and real-time control, so as to maximize the utilization efficiency of parking resources facing the operation side and the parking service experience facing the public demand side. The "Smart parking service" project is the first joint research and development achievement jointly completed by several enterprises belonging to the short-listed projects.

The second phase of "Smart parking service Project" is already under planning. It will propose a more general vehicle-side solution, add more field-side application scenarios, optimize vehicle dispatching control to help customers better solve the parking pain, and provide smart city solutions for cities and communities.
As "possibly the earliest unmanned commercial scene", the project has been widely concerned by mainstream media such as Liberation Daily, Wen Wei Po, Fenghuang.com and Sina.com, as well as social media such as official website of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government.
