Besides, the hot topics about the mascot "Ice Dun Dun" and explaining Wang Meng are also endless.
Among these dizzying hot spots, a Hong Kong player suddenly appeared out of thin air, which also attracted the attention from the mainland and Hong Kong.
That’s right, it’s the Hong Kong short track speed skater who has repeatedly searched for "Northeast dialect": Zhu Dingwen.

At first, everyone’s interest in Zhu Dingwen came from two points: one was that he was the flag bearer on the opening day, and "Hong Kong flag bearer was so handsome" immediately rushed to a hot search.
In the hot search, everyone discussed Zhu Dingwen’s "handsome", not that his facial features are beautiful, but that as a young athlete, generate’s vigor and vitality is very infectious.

Another point is that his Northeast dialect is very "6".
After all, a native of Hong Kong can speak fluent Northeastern dialect, and the interest of this matter is full in an instant.
How many "6" are there? Watch the video directly:
After watching the video, I know that Zhu Dingwen is not the only one who speaks the Northeast dialect very well. The Northeast dialect of their entire short track speed skating team is Grade 10, which can even be called "the official language of Hong Kong short track speed skating".
The reason why the Northeast speaks so well is actually because they often go to the Northeast for training and communicate with the coaches in the Northeast, and the "big smell" is unconsciously engraved into DNA.

But if you think that Zhu Dingwen is just a Hong Kong mascot who can speak Northeast dialect, it is all wet!
Zhu Dingwen is not only an athlete, but also a scientist who published papers at the age of 16, won numerous awards and is proficient in five languages!
Today, let’s take a look at how the Hong Kong Winter Olympics team is crouching tiger, hidden dragon.
Young scientist
The reason why Zhu Dingwen embarked on the road of scientific research was because he was influenced by his family.
In 2013, Zhu Dingwen’s grandmother was diagnosed with cancer.
At that time, Zhu Dingwen was only 13 years old. He had just entered junior high school, and he was still at school. He found that he was too weak to do anything in the face of the unpredictable fate.
But really nothing can be done?
Zhu Dingwen is not willing to accept his fate. He believes that as long as he wants to do it, there is always something he can do.
So he studied hard and devoted himself to research, and even slept only two hours a day during the hardest time.
In just two years, Zhu Dingwen handed over an amazing answer sheet: he invented a "rapid cancer detection system", which shortened the traditional detection and analysis from 60 hours to only 2 minutes to find out the mutant gene! The efficiency of cancer verification has been greatly improved.
This system enabled him to win the first prize of computer and information technology in senior high school group, the award of the best project and the highest award of "young scientist" in the "Hong Kong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition".

Not only that, he was also a finalist in the "Intel International Science and Engineering Grand Prix", which is called the "World Cup" of the global youth science competition.
Later, at the age of 16, he published his own paper as the first author, which attracted much attention in academic circles.
As early as 2016, Zhu Dingwen once came to the mainland to participate in a program called "Young Edison" and won the popularity championship.

In 2018, he was admitted to the School of Public Health of George Washington University’s milken Institute to study public health and molecular and cell biology.
He has also done many volunteers, such as teaching English to poor children in Cambodia and volunteering in a hospital.
Even the COVID-19 epidemic, which is currently plaguing all mankind, has been involved in the tracking of confirmed contacts and epidemiological work in the United States.

Zhu Dingwen, who was born before the Millennium, is only 22 years old this year. When he achieved these achievements, he had not even graduated from school.
Then, how did Zhu Dingwen, a "young scientist", become an ice athlete?
Ice speed
The fate of Zhu Dingwen and ice sports has to start from childhood.
He has been playing ice hockey since he was five years old.

At that time, most of his classmates were Canadian. As time went on, the physical differences gradually emerged.
European students are all big, and he gradually grew into a thin Asian.
Because of physical limitations, Zhu Dingwen gradually began to feel a little overwhelmed, and he clearly felt the gap between himself and his classmates.

Not only that, because of intensive training, he was only 11 years old at that time and was already covered with injuries.
No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn’t keep up with everyone’s progress, which made him depressed and anxious.
However, Zhu Dingwen is not ready to give up like this. He loves ice sports. If ice hockey doesn’t work, then change it.
At the age of 12, Zhu Dingwen turned to short track speed skating.

The first time he stood on the ice and slid up, he was attracted by this speed. "It was a feeling of flying on the ice."
Short track speed skating requires not only sufficient physical strength and accurate technical movements, but also the accuracy of equipment and the guarantee of the venue. Most importantly, when he "flies" with his skates, he is chased by a feeling of "constantly surpassing himself and his opponent", which fascinates him.
Because he started later than others, Zhu Dingwen skated half a lap more than others in every training to hone his muscles and ice sensitivity.

Everything comes to him who waits. At the age of 15, he was officially elected to the China-Hongkong short track speed skating team.
He won the Hong Kong Short Track Speed Skating Championship five times and won four bronze medals and one silver medal in the Asian Championships.
At that time, Zhu Dingwen’s greatest dream was to represent Hong Kong in the Olympic Games at the age of 18. He has made the best preparation, but a bad news broke his dream.
never give up
In 2017, after continuous hard training, Zhu Dingwen was qualified to represent Hong Kong. He originally wanted to participate in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in 2018.
Who knows that at this critical moment, there was an accident.
His right ankle was suddenly injured in a training session, resulting in three fractures. It will take at least four months to recover.

And two months later, the Winter Olympics qualifiers will be held.
If he misses this opportunity, he will have to wait for another four years, and how many four years can an athlete have in his life?
At that time, Zhu Dingwen was in despair, lying in a hospital bed in plaster, and his legs could not move at all.
At this most desperate moment, his coach Sun Dandan encouraged him with his own story.

Sun Dandan once won the women’s relay gold medal in the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, and twice won the relay silver medal in the Winter Olympics. After retiring, she trained the short track speed skating world champion Han Tianyu as a coach.
Sun Dandan told Zhu Dingwen that she had suffered the same injury as Zhu Dingwen when preparing for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. At that time, she only had two months to recover. After overcoming the injury, she won the silver medal again in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

"No matter what injuries you have suffered, you must try to return to the Olympic stage."
This is what Zhu Dingwen learned from the coach. So in the following time, Zhu Dingwen recovered mentally and resumed training one by one, and finally participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics trials as scheduled.

Although it is a pity that he still failed to qualify for the Winter Olympics that year, just this year, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, he came back!
Today, four years later, Zhu Dingwen finally stood in the Winter Olympics he dreamed of.
Just now, Zhu Dingwen played in the Winter Olympics for the first time and conducted the 500-meter men’s short track speed skating preliminaries. In the end, the group ranked third and missed the final.
Although the result is regrettable, I believe that as long as I persist, I will definitely have a reward one day.

What Zhu Dingwen carries is the dream of every young athlete.
Even after injuries and failures, they never give up!
